Pumpkin Character

Although it is June, I wanted to share a project the second graders did back in October. They had to choose a fiction book and pick out the main character from the story.  Then, they decorated a pumpkin to look like the main character.  As always, there was a writing aspect to go with the project, and parents were encouraged to help with the the artistic part at home.  They all turned out amazing!!!!

International Fair

Each year, my second graders will choose a country to research.  We then spend about one month going to the computer lab and completing an entire research binder on their selected country.  At the end of the research, they will put together a tri-fold board with their information to present at an International Fair.  They are required to dress in costume to represent their country and to serve a few choice foods from their country. Here are a few examples from this year's second graders!

Biography Bottles

April, 2013

My second graders were given the task of reading a biogrphy about a famous person. They were then to create a soda bottle to look like the person they read about.  They were encouraged to have some parent help with the bottle part as long as they did the writing that went with it themselves.  This was one of the many ideas I have found along the way of searching Pinterest and Teacher's Pay Teachers. The name of the person they completed their project on, is listed BELOW the pictures.
 Neil Armstrong
 Abe Lincoln
 Dr. Seuss
 Martin Luther King Jr.
 Claude Monet
 Thomas Edison
 Ulysses S. Grant
 Albert Einstein
Walt Disney
